The New Year is upon us, and our sister site Internships.com is making headlines in Washington, D.C.. On Thursday at the White House, flanked by business, non-profit and community leaders, President Obama outlined a Summer Jobs+ initiative to help 16 – 24 year olds find summer internships and jobs. As the world’s largest internships marketplace, Internships.com was chosen by the White House to be the co-lead technology partner alongside Google for this project.
“With seven out of every ten internships turning into full time jobs, it’s clear that providing youth access to internships is one of the best ways to ensure the long term prosperity of the country.” – Robin D. Richards
In the White House press release, the President announced the launch of “the Summer Jobs+ Bank, a one-stop search tool for youth to access postings for any participating employers seeking to reach them where they are online.” Internships.com will populate the job bank with all summer 2012 internships available in its database and Google will index these new opportunities to help increase the available internships on the job bank. With over 50,000 summer internship positions available and thousands of new employers posting each month, Internships.com is the largest internships marketplace on the web.
Robin D. Richards, Chairman & CEO of Internships.com, is thrilled to have the company connect young people with its robust internship inventory. “Internships.com is honored to have been chosen by the White House for this vital project,” said Richards. “With seven out of every ten internships turning into full time jobs, it’s clear that providing youth access to internships is one of the best ways to ensure the long term prosperity of the country.”
