Salary Range: $146,635-$246,429
Position Summary
The Sr. Director – Airfreight Development, US is responsible for the overall growth and development of the Airfreight Product within the USA. The core responsibilities include Pricing and Procurement, Carrier Management, Trade Lane Development, Industry Vertical Product Development, Planning & Controlling and Gateway Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Procurement - Manage and negotiate air freight rates for US export cargo. Negotiate trucking rates (Inbound/outbound) at a local or regional level to contribute to air product competitiveness
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Air Carriers and other subcontractors to support air product service levels and rate competitiveness.
- Prepare and manage capacity plans including Block Space Agreements (BSA's) and Consolidation scheduling.
- Drive continuous cost and service improvement efforts with air carriers and trucking companies.
- Follow and execute the airlines evaluation system and core carriers' program established by the AFF procurement department (RHQ).
- Act as a first escalation point to resolve air procurement and services issues with carriers.
- Responsible for analyzing and implementing, consolidation service opportunities for different trade lanes.
- Set and plan strategic measures/policies to ascertain where costs/rates can be reduced or eliminated.
- Support the Tender Management Team (TMT) with strategic pricing for high cargo volume RFQ's.
- Manage the Air Rate Platform for the corresponding region maintaining updated and competitive rates and SSR's for the air products (Economy, Standard, Expedite).
- Support the outside sales teams and/or branch management with high volume spot quotations.
- Support all aspects of Business Development including sales campaigns, key account development and all efforts to develop new and existing business.
- Act as the primary point of contact with customers and the industry vertical development teams to improve and grow our vertical products.
- Proactively work with sales management to monitor the CRM for pipeline visibility, obtain monthly volume forecasts reports and customers' shipping plans.
- Actively engage with origin offices to develop capacity plans.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an equivalent Air Freight Management role with a large multinational freight forwarding company.
- Air Cargo IATA certifications preferred.
- Solid knowledge of international freight forwarding.
- Must possess excellent communicative skills both spoken and written.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal management skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
