Salary Range: $43,060-$66,443
Position Summary
The Sr. Dispatcher position is responsible for dispatching YLA drivers and owner operators to assigned destinations. Responsible for effectively organizing schedules to maximize service and meet customer needs. This role works closely with drivers and other staff to ensure the best possible solutions are identified. Performs any other functions related to the successful operation of the Branch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for dispatching all over-the-road company drivers and owner operators.
- Responsible for all the day to day activities in instigating, building and moving freight.
- Operations process adherence; use personal judgment to satisfy customer expectations regarding pickup and delivery of product.
- Monitor schedule and events to ensure timely communication of cancellations or changes as required.
- Monitor and report performance as it relates to driver incidents, equipment failure, vehicle breakdowns and other potential service disruptions.
- Make recommendations on changes to operational procedures/guidelines based on KPI performance. Responsible to remain compliant with all FMCSA mandates through evaluation, documentation and training.
- Train staff consistent with DOT regulations and company rules to ensure overall compliance.
- Ensure dispatch protocols are in compliance with both client and company policies and procedures.
- Customer services; expected to solve problems, provide new rates, and be the one call for any customer needs/issues.
- Serve as contact and negotiator for the branch in matters regarding trucking operations.
- Continuously work with prospective and current customers to be their first call with freight availability.
- Business development; responsible for correctly setting the pricing to a customer to ensure that margins are acceptable for the corporation.
- Telemarketing and cold calls to identify and capture additional business opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and appropriate filing systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
- Performance measurement based on account performance, productivity and delivery of service.
- Some weekend work duties may be required.
- High School, plus three or more years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
