Summary
The E-Commerce Fulfillment Operations Manager is responsible for leading all operational aspects of the e-commerce fulfillment process, with a primary focus on the efficient and accurate picking, packing, and shipping of online customer orders. This role also oversees e-commerce inventory management, including replenishment strategies to maintain product availability and minimize order delays. The ideal candidate will leverage existing warehouse automation tools and actively embrace emerging technologies to drive operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. The manager leads a team of supervisors and associates in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment to achieve service, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
- Oversee the end-to-end fulfillment process for e-commerce orders, ensuring timely, accurate, and damage-free picking, packing, and shipping.
- Manage e-commerce inventory levels and replenishment processes to maintain stock accuracy, availability, and order fill rates.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, order cycle time, picks per hour, and inventory accuracy; and lead daily operations to meet or exceed targets.
- Leverage warehouse automation tools (e.g., Locus Robotics) and identify opportunities to pilot or implement new technologies that streamline fulfillment workflows, improve accuracy, and increase throughput (e.g. goods to person systems, automated packing tools, etc.).
- Coordinate labor planning and scheduling to align workforce levels with order volume, balancing productivity goals and cost efficiency.
- Develop and implement SOPs specific to e-commerce workflows, including bin replenishment, SKU slotting, order batching, and packing station efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement (kaizen) initiatives to optimize fulfillment operations, reduce waste, improve order flow, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and associates, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance.
- Partner with Inventory Control and Supply Chain teams to manage product flow, prevent stockouts, and ensure inventory integrity.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Account Management teams to resolve issues and support service level commitments.
- Ensure safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free e-commerce fulfillment area.
- Eight years of demonstrated supervisory or managerial experience in a high volume warehouse, preferably cross dock or transloading, distribution, manufacturing or similar environment.
- Prior experience with the preparation of operating budgets, capital improvement projects, cost reduction initiatives, and productivity improvement plans.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relations among all levels of an organization.
- Computer literacy with MS Office Suite essential; prior experience with Warehouse Management and Yard Management Systems preferred and Manhatten Scale (WMS) a plus..
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
