Job Summary
This position provides industrial massage services focused on total employee health in partnership with WorkCare's Industrial Injury Prevention Specialists (IIPS)
Services provided within OSHA first aid guidelines at designated service centers.
The schedule for this position is Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Massage Therapy: Perform a variety of therapeutic massage techniques to address discomfort, improve mobility, and enhance recovery, including deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release
- Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize treatment outcomes
- Education: Educate clients on injury prevention, recovery strategies, and overall wellness to support their long-term health and performance goals
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatments, progress, and any changes in clients' conditions.
- Provide triage, first-aid, education and/or escalation of care if needed
- Facilitate on-going communication with all parties involved in managing an injury case
- Support the injured employee, monitor medical care, and promote efficient reporting
- Help employees prevent repetitive, cumulative and overuse type musculoskeletal injuries through soft tissue work and massage therapy techniques
- Identify opportunities for on-the-job education and coaching to help workers achieve and maintain physical resilience through optimizing body mechanics and postural habits
- Assist employees in achieving sustained lifestyle improvements in areas such as nutritional health, physical fitness, and stress management on an educational basis
- Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, ergonomic recommendations, and first aid
- Maintain records of massage engagements via electronic medical record system
- Work in partnership with other WorkCare services
- Performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Valid and current certification or California licensure in massage therapy (e.g., LMT, RMT) from an accredited institution.
- Proficient in musculoskeletal assessment to accurately screen and determine appropriate care plans
- Proficient in a range of massage techniques such as swedish deep tissue and trigger point therapy
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation method
- Must hold CPR/First Aid certification
- At least 2 years' relevant experience in massage
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Experience in orthopedics, wellness, industrial/occupational health, or ergonomics
- Ergonomic Certification

- Critical thinking skills a must
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with company policy and procedures
- Must have the ability to maintain a professional approach with others in job-demanding, multitasking
- Comfortable with performing massages on diverse clients.
- Ability to create and edit written materials as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences in 1:1 and group engagements
- Have the skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Computer Skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and can learn new software as needed
Physical Demands
- Requires standing for extended periods of time while providing care; Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
- Requires bending and stretching; Ability to use hands/arms and other tools to rub or press on the clients body for treatments; Requires repetitive hand motion.
- Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and administering treatments.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Air quality is good and temperature is controlled indoors.
This position has an hourly page range of $35-$40 per hour. Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
