Additionally, the coordinator will interact with multidisciplinary persons/departments. Will work collaboratively with WVU providing training and education. Establishes good relationships with community resource personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current licensure by the West Virginia Board of Nursing.

2. Completion of forty hours of SANE training following recommended guidelines of Emergency Nurses Association and International Association of Forensic Nurses. 

3. Completion of 20 hours of continuing education annually applicable to forensic nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two years' nursing experience including forensic nursing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

2. Completion of SANE training, with a strong interest in promoting forensic nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Previous experience with developing and conducting educational programs.

2. Previous supervisory, teaching, or leadership experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provides leadership and oversight of the SANE Program in a manner that promotes the organization's purpose and mission.

2. Acts as a resource in current state legislature and maintains knowledge to ensue program functioning.

3. Prepares and provides orientation and performs evaluation of personnel in the SANE Program.

4. Establishes annual competency and quality assurance goals.

5. Schedules meetings to provide timely updates and disseminates necessary information to ensure program objectives.

6. Distributes information, verbal or written communication, to ensure that necessary information has been communicated.

7. Prepares the monthly on call schedule. Communicates schedule needs to provide 24/7 coverage.

8. Maintains supplies and equipment as needed to conduct forensic examinations.

9. Works collaboratively with the Emergency Department Director and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Coordinator.

10. Attends monthly county SART meetings.

11. Collaborates with West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (FRIS), The Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC), and West Virginia University and Title IX to provide information and education to WVU students and faculty.

12. Collaborates with law enforcement agencies and communicates pertinent information pertaining to the forensic medical examination and history obtained from the victim.

13. Assists personnel in preparing for courtroom proceedings.
