The Director of Training & Staff Development will direct the Training & Staff Development team in achieving their mission of supporting staff in their transformative professional development journey through innovative, high-quality and effective content that is rooted in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The Director of Training & Staff Development will identify organizational training objectives, develop and implement the strategy for meeting those objectives, and will also create and lead external, revenue-generating training program to establish WellPower as the leading provider of training in community behavioral health settings.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $102,196 - $120,230 per year

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leadership & Management

  • Direct the Training & Staff Development department at WellPower with a DEIB lens.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the Training & Staff Development Team.
  • With DEIB at the core, develop the organizational philosophy and approach to Training & Staff Development.
  • Implement best and next practices in training, coaching, and facilitation including innovations in virtual learning, experiential learning, transformative learning, DEIB, asynchronous learning, etc.
  • Set and maintain a high standard for all trainings, facilitators, and materials.
  • Develop an annual budget that will support the training department and its initiatives.

Strategic Planning & Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Set strategic training and staff development goals, design and implement strategies to achieve those goals.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative methods to track training completion, compliance, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Enhance the skills, knowledge, and practices of employees by developing clear training objectives and successfully implementing and delivering high-quality training content.
  • Use a variety of methods to evaluate and understand the training and development needs of the organization – including the implementation of a bi-annual survey provided to staff per the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Develop and implement plans to address organizational, departmental, or team-level training gaps.
  • Ensure regulatory training compliance.
  • Develop and implement strengths-based systems to support training completion and compliance.
  • Direct the implementation, management, and oversight of a high-quality learning management system that effectively tracks student learning, policy attestation, licensure, certification, and continuing education.
  • Develop intentional interest and career development pathways for enhanced student learning through cohorts, trainings, self-guided learning opportunities, and more.
  • Provide dashboards and reports to Executive Management and Vice Presidents illustrating department level training completion and compliance data.
  • Assess, evaluate, and improve learning materials and training delivery models.
  • Develop and maintain required role-specific core training curricula.
  • Anticipate and forecast training needs in response to future growth.
  • Develop a world-class, revenue-generating training program for external learners.
  • Ensure, whenever possible, that all internal and external trainings are eligible for continuing education credit for licensed or certified learners.
  • Develop a Training and Staff Development advisory committee to support the development, implementation, and assessment of the training plan.

Organizational Culture & Collaboration:

  • Contribute to an organizational culture of respect and personal accountability regarding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging.
  • Develop and implement organization-wide training guidelines and standards to ensure all trainings at WellPower are meeting high quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with workgroups and Employee Resource Groups to develop the organizational training plan.
  • Promote cultural proficiency in all aspects of the organization's functions and programming.
  • Create opportunities to engage employees in cultural conversations, self-exploration, and intentional practice re: the lived experiences of people we serve, co-workers, and community members.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to create an environment in which staff members are comfortable engaging in discussions about “-isms” and feel equipped to problem-solve in situations involving these issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality Improvement and Clinical Training teams to ensure alignment and provide training support.
  • Collaborate in strategic program development projects and grant writing to secure funding for organizational programming.
  • Collaborate with People Operations and other department leaders to support effective onboarding, develop catalytic coaching, and increase staff recruitment and retention.
  • Provide Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging consultation, mediation, and professional development to all directors and managers.
  • Assist People Operations in the investigation of alleged staff misconduct relating to discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate behaviors towards co-workers or people we serve.
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Develop systems for high quality train-the-trainer opportunities to expand the capacity of the Training & Staff Development department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of demonstrated experience directly related to DEIB, training/facilitation, management, and organizational development/leadership. B.A. or higher in related field (nonprofit management, communications, human relations, etc.).

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience managing a team and providing strengths-based supports to team members.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating virtual, in person, and hybrid trainings.
  • Strong understanding of and demonstrated skills in anti-oppression, anti-racism, and anti-bias.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Engaging and effective training style.
  • Comfort in challenging the status quo/disparities.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make training concepts accessible and relevant to many different groups of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from all walks of life.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community organizations, government agencies, foundations, non-profits, and other community partners.
  • Experience in budgeting and strategic planning.
