Description

Position:

This position performs a variety of routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the pain management clinic. The MA is responsible for coordinating and performing general office functions and receptionist duties including greeting patients, maintaining patient schedules & patient reports, typing correspondence, filing, answering phones and transmitting messages. This position is clinically competent and assists in delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse or provider.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), preferred 
  • High School diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant Certificate Program
  • Associate Degree, preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPS) Card – Healthcare Provider/American Heart Association (AHA), to be certified at Wayne HealthCare within two years of hire. 
  • Previous experience in provider office and billing 
  • Preferred skills: HER, Microsoft Office, computer usage, data management, analytic skills, organization
  • May be required to lift 50 pounds or more and lift above shoulders

Responsibility:

  • Demonstrates ability to perform age-specific outpatient care for adult and geriatric patients according to the medical assistant's scope of practice and knowledge base
  • Completely performs vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure
  • Completely performs and documents weight and height
  • Completely performs thorough patient intake and documents appropriately 
  • Assists in delivery of direct patient care as directed
  • Able to assist provider, offer support, and monitor patients throughout clinical visit
  • Notifies RN Supervisor of Pain Management and/or RN on duty of any change in patient condition
  • Completes accurate charges, documentation in patient records, and support or assist with clinical data entry as directed by the RN supervisor in a timely manner per policy
  • Tracks patient referrals contacts patient to schedule clinic appointments, preauthorization, pre-registration, and billing per hospital policy and process.
