    Certification Details
  • Required Certifications: BLS.
  • Required for common cases: GYN/Uro/Vascular/Plastic/Ortho (total hips/knees)/Neuro/Cardiovascular/Thoracic/General (Breast/HPB/Bariatric)/Sports Med (Hand/Podiatry)/Kidney (kidney/pancreatic) transplants, ENT (sinus surgery, septoplasty, cochlear implant, tympanoplasty, laryngoscopy), and Davinci Xi (Gyn, Uro, General).
  • 16 total different service lines.
    Job Details
  • OR RN position available.
  • Contract length: 13 weeks.
  • Unit: Operation Room (OR RN).
  • # Suites: 22 with capability to go to 26 (spread across 3 separate floors).
  • Average # of cases per day: 50-65.
    Job Requirements
  • Circulating duties; prefer someone with knowledge in multiple types of cases.
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: Circulating duties, ENT, and Davinci XI.
  • Two years of experience preferred, first-time travelers okay.
  • Manager may consider traveler with less than 2 years' experience if a strong candidate.
  • Strong candidate: Experience at a hospital of similar/larger size, experience with majority of common cases, MUST HAVE ENT and DaVinci Xi.
    Schedule Information
  • 4-10 hour shifts, variable days and start times Mon-Friday.
  • Start times: 0630/0900/1100; consistent start time for the same week.
  • Later start times on Tuesdays and Fridays for in services and team meetings.
  • 1 call (weekday/weekend) per 4-week schedule.
  • Weekday call from end of shift until 7am next day; weekend call is 24 hours.
  • No self-scheduling.
  • Call room available for 30-minute response time requirement.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Charge Nurse/Supervisor: Charge nurse - run board.
  • OR techs: Yes - Scrub.
  • Patient Population: GYN/Uro/Vascular/Plastic/Ortho (total hips/knees)/Neuro/Cardiovascular/Thoracic/General (Breast/HPB/Bariatric)/Sports Med (Hand/Podiatry)/Kidney (kidney/pancreatic) transplants, ENT surgeries.
  • Unit/Department specific orientation: 1-2 days with HR and OR leadership (includes EHR training), plus 1-2 days on the unit with a preceptor.
    Additional Details
  • BLS certification required.
  • Department: Operation Room (OR RN).
  • Over two absence occurrences in a 13-week contract may lead to early termination.
  • No scrubbing required - RN's.
  • Charge nurse available as a resource.
  • EMR: Cerner.
  • No floating requirements.
  • Scrub color/dress code: Teal, provided (follow AORN standards).
  • Department specific orientation: HR and OR leadership, 1-2 days (includes EHR training), and 1-2 days on the unit with a preceptor.
  • Physicians and team are very helpful and willing to teach.
  • Travelers often extend their stays.
