Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at VCU/VCU Health System is actively recruiting for an open rank, collateral, non-tenure track faculty position. The faculty member will be responsible for providing clinical services in endourology and minimally invasive surgery for nephrolithiasis, BPH, and general urology. The faculty member will be responsible for providing clinical services and developing a service line for endourology, nephrolithiasis, BPH and HoLEPS.? The faculty member will also develop an endourology fellowship and provide clinical care at VCU Medical Center and a satellite clinic. The clinical position will cover the full breadth of urologic care for nephrolithiasis, BPH and general urology at VCU and the VA. Additionally, the faculty member will also support the division with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels to include training residents in the aforementioned clinical specialties.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities including formal lectures and case presentations to undergraduate medical students encompassing all areas of urology and applied anatomy and physiology.
Research
Faculty member will be expected to be an active participant in clinical trials in his/her subspecialty interest.
Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Clinical
The faculty member will be expected to build and maintain a busy patient centered clinical practice with focus on minimally invasive surgery, PCNL, and HoLEPS for the management of nephrolithiasis, BPH and other urologic disease. This includes both inpatient and outpatient management of all urological diagnoses and operative procedures. Opportunities will exist for expansion of VCU Division of Urology services to outlying clinics and surrounding communities. A multidisciplinary approach is encouraged with our colleagues in medical oncology, radiation oncology, nephrology, transplant medicine, and others.
Required Qualifications:

  • Must be board certified in Urology or board eligible.
  • Dedicated to teaching residents and medical students.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.
  • Commitment to laboratory and/or clinical research within the faculty member's subspecialty interest.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Endourology Fellowship training or equivalent experience in HoLEPS and PCNLs.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Additional experience in quality and education.
