UROLOGY - FACULTY OPPORTUNITY

University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) – South Houston to Galveston, Texas

UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes five schools (medicine, nursing, health professions, public and population health, and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.

The Department of Surgery, Division Urology Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible General Urologist and/or a Fellowship trained Endourologist or Urologic Oncologist. The person in this position is responsible for providing direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients. He/she will participate in all teaching activities of the Department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds; house staff supervision in the operating room, clinics, and in-patient services; continuing medical education; and local, regional, and national meetings. Students include medical students, house staff, nursing, and allied health students. In addition, the person in this position will have administrative responsibilities including supervising and evaluating residents, providing medical direction, and participating in committee memberships at the Departmental and Health System levels.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Clinical care of Urology patients through the development of a clinical practice.
  • Mentoring and Education of Students, Residents and Fellows.
  • Participation in clinical research programs.
  • All faculty will share general Urology call.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

  • M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical institution.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Board certification or Board eligibility.
  • Completed Fellowship training if applicable.

Compensation: A generous base salary is offered and is based upon Academic rank and experience with an obtainable RVU bonus program. Additional benefits include a relocation allowance, a superior family benefits program and an unsurpassed state retirement program.
