Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the organization, shifting, and shelf-reading of library materials at the Brettell Reading Room.
  • Keep up-to-date with the library and department's policies and procedures.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and issues with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Participate in the Technical Services and Access Services projects.
  • Perform related duties, keep records, and finish assigned projects.


Minimum Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent: One year of library experience or relevant customer service experience.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This part-time role provides quality customer service at the Brettell Reading Room located within The University of Texas at Dallas' Athenaeum. The position includes overseeing the Brettell Reading Room, providing information, guiding users in their search for library resources, and helping with the navigation of the library's website and catalog. Additionally, it involves handling inquiries about patron accounts and answering other questions related to the library, Athenaeum, and University.

The Brettell Reading Room contains books and journals from Richard Brettell's personal library, with a primary focus on European arts and the history of art and architecture. The collection features over 2,400 titles published since 1840 in about 20 different languages.

Schedule: Part-time (19.5 Hours per week)
  • Monday through Thursday: 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM
