Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications at the Bass School, the Marketing Communications Manager supports the Dean's priorities, Development and Alumni Relations, Undergraduate Recruitment, Graduate Recruitment, Events, and Internal Stakeholders (faculty/staff/other units). This position is a core force in our digital marketing and communication efforts across all channels, including web, social, email and print. In this role, you will create content for these channels, including SEO-informed web content that positively impacts institutional SEO rankings. You will create and coordinate content for programmatic advertising solutions. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Communications to synergize the interplay of web, email and social media content, storytelling and multimedia assets and help drive institutional visibility, fuel engagement and, ultimately, amplify the Bass brand.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree; five years experience in marketing communications and advertising; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, English, communications, journalism or a related field. Experience in marketing, digital strategy and content creation is preferred.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful integrated marketing campaigns that utilize storytelling across digital channels.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful social media strategies and campaigns and strong understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms, organic search and SEO strategies, GA4, keyword research tools (Moz/Semrush/Google Keyword Planner) and WordPress.
- Strong understanding of branding, content pillars and messaging.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Asana and Salesforce.
- Proficiency in using AP style to create and proofread copy with accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of the higher ed space and the opportunities to move its key audiences to action.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Brand awareness: Champion the Bass brand, voice and tone in the creation of content and assets to elevate the visibility of the Bass School.
- Content creation: Nurture Bass student, faculty, alumni and donor leads to develop and seed content for storytelling across channels in varying formats, including long-form narratives for web and print as well as content for video storytelling and emails.
- SEO strategies: Use keyword research to create SEO-informed web copy, including metadata (meta titles, meta descriptions), to drive rankings, engagement and amplification of the Bass brand.
- Marketing and digital advertising solutions: Use knowledge of PPC to create and coordinate assets that deliver the Bass brand and Bass programs in front of audiences with the highest inclinations to engage.
- Social media content and campaigns: Seed and curate the Bass social media content calendar and strategize and develop social media campaigns using photography, video and digital storytelling to highlight Bass students, faculty, donors, alumni and other stakeholders.
- Social media listening, analytics and optimization: Regularly monitor Bass social media performance and use data-driven insights to optimize content and delivery to continuously increase the reach of the Bass School and maximize engagement with our audiences.
- Content mapping, distribution and management: Strategize entry points to stories from digital and print channels, use Campus Press to populate stories for Web, and implement social media and email strategies to drive traffic to web and engagement.
- Audience segmentation and journeys: Create content that meets audiences where they are, correlating marketing funnel to personas and their journeys, and developing targeted messaging that moves them to action.
- Recruitment support: Use knowledge of Salesforce to assist with Bass-specific campaigns that complement institutional student recruitment strategies.
- Internal and external communications: Create and distribute content for leadership communications, newsletters and email communications.
- Supervise student workers.
