Description

This position will oversee advising services, coordinate communications to students and stakeholders and develop/implement/deliver immigration programming. This position will also provide in-depth advising to international students regarding F regulations and UTD policy and procedures; and general advising on other categories. Will certify eligibility for immigration benefits for F students, including I-20 issuance, OPT/CPT, Economic Hardship, Reinstatement, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and at least two years working as a Department of Homeland Security Designated School Official in a higher education international office, working with DHS SEVIS reporting requirements, F and/or J Programs, and case management and advising relating to regulatory compliance; OR the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling at least six years.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Advising and Communications:

Responsible for day-to-day functions related to international student advising including monthly scheduling, assigning emails, monitoring email boards, planning advising services, etc. Will be a back-up advisor when needed. Assist students who escalate and/or are in complex situations requiring more in depth advising. Be available to ISSO and other department staff as immigration resource.

2. Programs and Events:

Independently and/or collaboratively develop, implement, and deliver immigration programs which may include, but is not limited to, immigration workshops, presentations to stakeholders, co-presenting with members from the International Students and Scholars Office/International Center/Campus Community. Be available for programs/events as a presenter and/or backup to the presenter.

3. Planning and Coordination:

Continually seek ways to improve services to international students by developing new initiatives, resources and/or programs. Create assessments and surveys to monitor quality and quantity of advising services and make any necessary changes to improve services. Interpret current data and make recommendations for collaborative efforts to academic and student affairs stakeholders. Serve as a member of campus groups and committees related to communication, advising and/or programming. Provide training and support to new advising staff. Keep abreast of evolving DHS regulations and procedures, UTD policies and procedures and technological skills. Participate in team & individual projects.

Remote Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval
