Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Direct and optimize all ILL services, ensuring staff adherence to quality and productivity benchmarks to fulfill consortia obligations. Guarantee timely delivery and receipt of materials, maintain staff focus, and provide prompt and accurate responses to faculty and student inquiries.

  • Service Analysis and Reporting: Perform both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the ILL Department to drive service enhancements at McDermott Library. Compile and distribute regular reports on service usage to aid subject selectors and Library Administration in discerning collection development priorities for the UT Dallas community.

  • Community Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for UT Dallas within the resource-sharing community, representing the institution as OCLC SHARES liaison, Rapid ILL, OCLC, and Amigos Library Services delegate at various gatherings, conferences, and seminars.

  • Process Supervision: Oversee the processing of ILL lending, borrowing, and document delivery transactions. Manage the logistics of material shipment and receipt, including the administration of eShipGlobal and TransAmigos Express Courier services. Maintain up-to-date records for custom holdings, billing, addresses, and consortia library policies.

  • Consortia Relations and Reference Services: Administer monthly ILL statistics reporting, handle IFM, IFLA, and eProcurement payments, and sustain consortia contracts with Rapid ILL, SHARES, and Trans Amigos Express. Engage in both face-to-face and virtual reference assistance.


Minimum Education and Experience

Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution; experience in working with an integrated library system, preferably ExLibris' Alma; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Education and Experience

Preferred Education and Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of academic or public library experience; working knowledge of an integrated library system such as ALMA; working knowledge of OCLC, Tipasa, WorldShare ILL, and RapidILL; proficiency in library database searching including bibliographic citation verification; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe; experience trouble shooting software and hardware issues; and a history of providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
