Description

The Employment and Compensation Specialist I is responsible for providing the talent acquisition and compensation services to University hiring managers and departmental leaders. This position partners with hiring managers to hire talent, while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, and University and UT system policies.

This position partners with the Employment & Compensation Manager to advise on first line compensation matters and strategies with campus colleagues. This individual will foster and maintain partnerships with hiring managers, applicants, and the UT Dallas community at-large.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree
Four (4) years of general HR, direct training/talent development, benefits, employment immigration, administrative experience or other relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the hiring process for staff and temporary positions in designated schools and divisions using an applicant tracking system.
  • Partner with the Employment & Compensation Manager to conduct internal and external market reviews. Use market data to assist hiring managers in determining competitive salaries during initial hiring, promotions and reclassifications.
  • Partner with hiring managers on developing recruitment plans, assisting with the interview and selection process and managing the job offer process for staff positions while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, and University and UT system policies.
  • Review resumes and applications to ensure minimal qualifications are met based on noted skills, experience and knowledge in relation to position requirements.
  • Identify and target active or passive candidates that could meet the organization's current and future talent needs.
  • Develop a candidate pipeline and maintain relationships through online or in-person networking.
  • Encourage candidate interest by promoting the organization as an employer of choice.
  • Stay informed of employment laws, trends, and innovative recruiting techniques in order to be competitive in state-of-the-art recruiting practices.
  • Participate in the development of ongoing, creative and cost-effective sourcing/recruitment strategies.
  • Educate hiring managers about successful recruitment strategies and search options; train managers on use of the applicant tracking system.
  • Review and guide campus colleagues on first line salary/compensation matters relating to offers, reclassifications and promotions to ensure internal equity while remaining competitive with market pricing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
