Description

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Basic Needs Resource Center. Oversee a variety of basic needs support services, specifically the coordination of Temoc's Clothing Closet, Swipe It Forward, short-term emergency housing, short-term financial needs, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, temporary academic accommodations, and referral processes to other on- and off-campus basic needs resources.
  • Provide budget oversight and fiscal responsibility for the Basic Needs Resource Center per UTD guidelines. 
  • Work collaboratively to establish a cross-functional team/institutionalized basic needs working group to ensure coordination of services, enhance communication, and prevent duplication of effort. Co-lead regular meetings with other departments on campus that provide basic needs support services, including but not limited to the Comet Cupboard, Comet Cents, Comet Closet, and the International Student Emergency Fund. 
  • Assist the Associate Dean of Students for Health and Wellness in identifying community resources for partnership or sponsorships of the Student Emergency Fund.
  • Serve on the Behavior Assessment and Intervention Team (BAIT) as a case manager. Serve as primary resource for students in mid-level crisis by facilitating short- and long-term goals, identifying other campus resources such as the Student Counseling Center or off campus services.
  • Monitor, assess, and share legislation trends related to basic needs insecurities and support services in higher education.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Development Office to create marketing campaigns to solicit donations to support the Student Emergency Fund and initiatives managed by the Basic Needs Resource Center.
  • Identify and apply for grants to support Basic Needs Resource Center activities.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to collect and analyze data related to health and wellness or other areas as needed. This may include administering student surveys, conducting focus groups, and examining relevant quantitative and qualitative data to identify new opportunities or areas of improvement. 
  • Use data and input from campus partners to conceptualize, design, and implement programs and services designed to support student connectedness to UT Dallas.
  • Work some nights and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related progressive experience.



Preferred Education and Experience

Master's degree or combination of work and education in higher education, social services, or related field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Basic Needs and Resource Center. Oversee basic needs for students, specifically food and housing insecurity, short-term financial needs, mental health and wellbeing and temporary in-class accommodations.

Additional Information

Remote Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
