Description
This position will work closely with Director to foster and maintain effective working relations with a wide range of internal departments and external contacts; provide guidance to departments, employees and students on policies and procedures; responsible for managing and overseeing advising and immigration programs; handle special projects as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5-7 years related professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree
- Experience with CRM tools and application databases such as Sunapsis, Terra Dotta, PeopleSoft, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Student Immigration Advising and Programming Functions:
- Management and oversight of advising services and immigration programs
- Continually seek ways to improve services to international students by developing new initiatives, resources and/or programs.
- Create assessments to measure the quality and quantity of advising services.
- Be available to ISSO, other department staff and stakeholders as an immigration resource.
- Recommend changes to improve services or reflect changes in immigration regulations
- Serve as a member of campus groups and committees
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure consistency of information based on immigration regulations, UT Dallas policies, ISSO policies, etc.
- Supervision and Staff Development:
- Shared supervisory responsibility for team of International Student Advisor staff; direct supervisory responsibility for some within the team.
- Oversee new staff training and development
- Scheduling and determining training needs
- Evaluate quality and quantity of work and provide oversight and feedback
- Initiate performance improvement and disciplinary actions
- Leadership Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Director to provide administrative functions including hiring, budgeting, strategic planning, goal setting, risk assessments, quality control, etc. Representing ISSO at administrative meetings and on committees and boards.
- Collaborate with other ISSO leadership in processing, advising, staff development & training, and SEVIS compliance for both F & J programs. Participate in strategic planning for unit.
- Build relationships with key campus stakeholders to benefit students
- Direct Customer Service:
- Handle escalated student or staff complaints that come to the ISSO through daily advising and processing functions. Make discretionary decisions on how to address ad-hoc customer requests.
- Other duties as assigned

Remote Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in-office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
