Description

The University of Texas at Dallas seeks an experienced and energetic athletic trainer who will, with the scope of licensure and legal boundaries, provide education, assessment, treatment and prevention services for athletic-related injuries and illnesses to assigned student-athletes, coaching staff, and members of the Athletic Department. The individual will assist in the day-to-day management of the athletic department's sports medicine operation and provide effective delivery of athletic training services.

Minimum Education and Experience

•A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Physical Education, or a related field is required.
•Must possess a current and valid State of Texas Athletic Training license OR be eligible to immediately obtain this licensure.
•Must be certified in First-aid, CPR and AED use.
•Southwest Athletic Trainers Association (SWATA) member if applicable
•BOC License



Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education, or a related field is required. Must possess a current and valid State of Texas Athletic Training license OR be eligible to immediately obtain this licensure. Must be certified in First-aid, CPR and AED use. Southwest Athletic Trainers Association (SWATA) member if applicable. BOC License. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills, strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as with other staff. Must have basic knowledge of NCAA rules for Division II Athletics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Comply with the University of Texas at Dallas Athletic Department Policies & Procedures, NCAA and American Southwest Conference (ASC) Manuals, NATA and ASC Athletic Training Code of Ethics and Conduct, and abide by all University policies.

Responsible for maintaining a professional image while representing the University at games, practices, away trips, conventions or meetings, and in the local community.

Assist in the daily operation of the athletic training facilities.

Coordinate all medical care and treatment for assigned teams and athletes, Athletic Administration and coaching staff, including but not limited to planning, coordinating and implementing programs for the prevention, evaluation, care/treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses, practice and event coverage, and team travel.

Education and counseling to student-athletes about their injuries/illness; Maintain appropriate, accurate, current and confidential documentation and medical records at all times.

Serve as a liaison to and coordinate treatment and referrals with University team physicians and healthcare professionals to assure continuity of care to the student-athletes within the Athletic Department.

Effective communication of information between the sports medicine team, coaches/athletic department personnel, the Head Athletic Trainer, student-athletes and parents/guardians.

Education of coaches and athletic department staff in First-Aid, CPR, AED application, and Emergency Action Plans.

Maintain a positive rapport and relationship with Athletic Department Administrations, coaching staff, and University faculty, staff, and students.

Will be active in the profession of athletic training, and may perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer / Director of Athletics.

Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills, strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as with other staff.

Must maintain all certifications/licensing (national, state, or other certification) during employment.

Must have basic knowledge of NCAA rules for Division III Athletics.

Additional Information
