Description
The Department of Surgery Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Iowa is seeking a Director for the UI Burn Treatment Center. Appointment will be for Associate or Full Professor in either the tenure or non-tenure clinical track. The successful candidate may also be eligible for appointment to the Clara L. Smith Professorship of Burn Treatment.
Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, have completed ACGME accredited training in all phases of General Surgery, possess board certification from the American Board of Surgery and licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Iowa. Extensive experience in the management and treatment of burns and related injuries is required. Experience providing care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is required. Ongoing experience in trauma and critical care is desirable. Completion of subspecialty training in burns, critical care, and/or trauma is highly desirable. Applicants with established research are preferred and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding. Applicants will also need to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, possess a strong commitment to academic and clinical excellence, as well as demonstrate achievements in leadership, team building, performance improvement, and program development.
