The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Infectious Disease candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, depending upon experience. This is a faculty position, as such requires providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, and participating in research and scholarly activities.  Protected time and an attractive start up package for a research focused faculty is available. Position Summary

Provide clinical care to patients admitted to Children's Hospital of Illinois and ambulatory clinics. Participate in teaching medical students and residents, and scholarly activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.
  • Conduct clinical and/or translational research in the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
  • Participate in infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship committees.
  • Provide phone consultations for other hospitals and Pediatric offices in Illinois.
  • Provide guidance for community outbreaks (measles and tuberculosis).
  • This a faculty position, as such requires providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, research, and scholarly activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree or equivalent
  • BC/BE in Pediatric Infectious Disease
  • Will hold or eligible for an Illinois physician license

About University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria (UICOMP) Department of Pediatrics and OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois:

UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country.  UICOMP's educational programs include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 different post graduate programs.  The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments at UICOMP. There are existing resources through UICOMP and Children's Hospital of Illinois to support research, quality improvement and innovation in health education projects. There are significant opportunities for developing clinical and translational research projects in pediatric infectious diseases. Adult Infectious Diseases Division is starting a fellowship training program this summer, this will provide opportunities for partnership in research and teaching. 

Currently there is one pediatric infectious disease faculty in Peoria, and we are recruiting a Division Chief, in addition to this faculty position. The program is currently supported by faculty from the Chicago campus and other regional partners who provide telehealth services. There is also a large adult infectious disease program on campus.
