Academic Neurocritical Care Physicians (Neurointensivists)

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology seeks academic neurointensivists to join the multidisciplinary neurocritical care team. We especially welcome candidates with a demonstrated interest and background in neurocritical care research. In addition to patient care and scholarship, appointees will participate in education, including the supervision of residents and neurocritical care fellows. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The neurointensivists at the University of Chicago manage neurological and neurosurgical critical care patients and have full privileges to perform relevant procedures, including bedside intracranial monitoring procedures. The University of Chicago Medical Center is a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center with a high volume of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients. It is also a certified Level I Trauma Center that manages a significant number of blunt and penetrating brain injuries, providing a unique opportunity for clinical and translational traumatic brain injury research. Further, the neurocritical care fellowship at the University of Chicago is an ACGME accredited fellowship program.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) possess a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or other relevant specialty, and 4) possess or be eligible for certification in Neurocritical Care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) and/or the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: apply.interfolio.com/124550
