Lobby Pharmacist Essential Job Duties:


Complies with statues, rules and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including but not limited to, the Indiana Board of Pharmacy, Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Agency, and HFAP.

Operates pharmacy computer system for prescription processing, which includes:

  • prescription label generation
  • prescription pricing
  • check for allergies and drug interactions
  • maintain patient profiles
  • maintain third-party insurance information
  • customer data base management
  • physician data base management
  • drug data base management
  • Accurately measures and packages drug dosage units.
  • Labels, checks, and dispenses drugs to customers.
  • Directly supervises all pharmacy technician activities pertaining to drug dispensing and computer operation.
  • Directly responsible for prescription department purchases.
  • Maintains adequate inventory to meet customer needs.
  • Controls inventory to achieve an overall turnover rate of six (6).
  • Oversees drug dating, storage, and integrity.
  • Oversees general pharmacy housekeeping.
  • Addresses customer inquiries or complaints.
  • Performs computer software and hardware maintenance functions as required.
  • Properly fills/charges ER prescriptions and inpatient prescriptions.
  • Works with Medical Social Services to dispense medications to low income patients.

 

  • Worker's Compensation Prescriptions:
  • Fills/labels/checks medication orders.
  • Is able to properly bill for prescriptions.

 

  • Clinical Activities:
    • Consults with prescribers on drug product selection and drug information.
    • Consults with customers on drug product information.
    • Provides drug product information to allied health care practitioners.
    • Distributes drug product and related literature as appropriate and required.
    • Advises physicians and patients where appropriate of drug therapy concerns and incompatibilities.
    • Utilizes auxiliary labeling system where appropriate.
    • Utilizes resource material provided as needed.
    • Participates in pharmacy clinical programs as required.

 

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Advanced Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.)
  • Board Certification preferred in the first year of eligibility.
  • Prior retail experience
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Indiana.
  • Must take licensure examination at the earliest convenience with licensure received within 75 days following first day of employment in position.
  • Job duties of a graduate pharmacist may be performed under the supervision of a pharmacist. Failure to pass the licensure exam results in a change of status to Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacy Intern.
    Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Indiana
