The Patient Care Assistant on our Post Anesthesia Care unit play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health.
The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia. PACU nurses and staff monitor patients closely, manage post-operative pain, and ensure a smooth transition into recovery, contributing to the overall success of surgical interventions and patient well-being.

Patient Care Assistant job details:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team.
  • Works under the direction of the RN to perform tasks such as:
    • Take vital signs
    • Answer patient call lights
    • Assist with ambulation and transporting
    • Prepares room for admissions and transfers
    • Other duties as assigned by nurse
  •  Performs basic clerical skills:
    • Answering phone calls and relaying messages
    • Transcribing patient orders
    • Delivers records to various departments
  • Follows company policies and procedures and department protocols.
  • Assists visitors, physicians, patients and co-workers with requests.

Qualifications:

  • Certification is preferred, not required.
  • BLS level of CPR required
  • Previous Unit Secretary or Nursing Assistant experience desirable
  • Previous computer experience
  • Availability to work rotating weekends.
