Cardiac Telemetry Technician Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Patient care: Monitors patient cardiac rhythms, responds to alarms, reports dysrhythmias to nursing staff, and documents rhythm strips.
- Professionalism: Maintains confidentiality, exercises tact and diplomacy, accepts additional tasks, and communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Professional growth: Takes advantage of educational offerings, consults with supervisors, and makes suggestions for improvement.
- Telemetry surveillance: Observes data generated from central cardiac monitors, records rhythm strips, assists with emergencies, and observes the effects of medications.
- Documentation and reporting: Labels and distributes trend reports, signs off on arrhythmia sheets, prepares reports for oncoming staff, and records patient data/events in the medical record.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy and medical terminology
- Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class
- CRAT Certification preferred
- EKG reading experience in acute care setting preferred
- Cardiac Monitor technician experience or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia course preferred
License/Certification:
- BLS level of CPR certification required
