Interventional Cardiologist Needed in Beautiful Western, NC
Caldwell UNC Health is the choice for health care in Caldwell County. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000 + visits a year. UNC Physician Network provides the majority of primary care and select specialty care to our market from eleven separate medical park locations throughout the county. Our 137-bed licensed hospital is a member of the UNC Health System. We are seeking a personable and engaging Interventional Cardiologist to join the team at UNC Heart & Vascular at Caldwell!
General Description:
- Full-time- time split between clinic and cath lab, call schedule is TBD
- Duties- would see patients in the clinic, perform cardiac cath and imaging, Echo and stress lab in the clinic as well as the hospital setting. Pacemaker clinic is available. Cardiac rehab is currently housed in the clinic with plans to expand to another site and add pulmonary component with increased patient volume.

Position Features:
- A brand new state-of-the-art Heart Center is currently under construction and will be attached to the hospital. This will include a cath lab and a procedure room. This new heart center also includes pre & post-patient bays. It is conveniently located right next to the ED & OR. The clinic is also located next door.
- Currently partnering with a community electrophysiologist; future service line expansion is being considered.
- Current Staffing- 1 interventional cardiologist, 1 part-time medical cardiologist, 1 APP and 1 additional community cardiologist to assist with call. We are also actively recruiting a vascular surgeon.
- Walk-in STEMI program operates M-F during cath lab hours. We have an algorithm that dictates if we are “green light” – accepting walk-in STEMI patients or “red light” – not accepting STEMI patients and transferring them to another facility. The algorithm includes factors such as cardiologist on site, cath lab team available, ICU bed available, etc.
