Summary of Job Duties: The Research Technician will become proficient in the techniques and principles of flow cytometry, operation of all the Flow Core instruments, and analysis of data. Primary duties include daily evaluation and maintenance of instruments to ensure they are working properly. The Research Technician will be responsible for operating core instruments, interacting and communicating with core users, and other duties assigned by the Core Manager, such as procurement of laboratory supplies. The Research Technician will be supervised and report directly to the Flow Core Lab Manager.
Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience in performing tests in a research laboratory required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree, or B.S. with 2-5 years of laboratory experience

  • Experience in the preparation of samples for flow cytometry.

  • Experience with the hands-on use of a flow cytometer, including the software associated with the instrument.

  • Experience analyzing flow cytometry data.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Lab Supervisor, Lab students, or post-docs to support their research activities.

  • Perform or assist with experiments that provide direct data contribution to ongoing research efforts.

  • Order laboratory supplies, cleaning and sterilizing glassware, general cleaning, and restocking of the laboratory.

  • Perform light maintenance of laboratory equipment (water baths, biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, microscope, etc.).

  • Oversee shipments to and from the lab and aid with the preparation of lab safety protocols.

  • Process human lung cell tissue cells.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
