Summary of Job Duties: *************Position is located in Springdale, AR.********************
The Health Education Specialist will report to the Director of Aging Services and Administration at the Springdale site. She/he will be responsible for greeting patrons and directing them to appropriate Schmieding Center services. This position will also be responsible for delivering select educational programs to older adults in the Schmieding Center service area. The Health Education Specialist requires strong organizational skills, leadership, and communication skills. He/She should be able to work well with others, solve problems, and be capable of working with little supervision or oversight. Self-motivation, flexibility, and a positive attitude are essential.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six (6) years experience in a healthcare setting or academic setting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, and Canva.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of health and wellness topics relevant to older adults.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to engage diverse audiences.
- Capability to manage programs, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Ability to lead group activities and serve as a resource for patrons.
- Competence in identifying and addressing challenges independently.
- Collaborative and empathetic approach to working with colleagues and patrons.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to providing a welcoming and supportive environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in education, English, Speech Communication, Social Work, or related field.

Key Responsibilities:
Receptionist:
- Greet all patrons at first arrival and direct them to appropriate Schmieding Center services.
- Conduct tours for visitors to the Schmieding Center.
- Direct incoming communications (e.g., phone, e-mail, etc.) to appropriate service areas for response.
- Register all social work clients in EPIC.
- Answer service and resource-related questions.
- Educational Programming:
- Participate in the development of the annual education program schedule.
- Work with the Director of Aging Services and the SCSHE team to plan education programs for professional, paraprofessional, and community members to include health priorities of the Centers on Aging, as well as those that align with the mission and goals of the Schmieding Center strategic plan.
- Assist in promotion of the program as outlined by the marketing plan.
- Participate in implementing strategies for maintaining program viability.
- Assist in delivering educational content related to older adults in the Schmieding Center service area.
- Schedule programs in 25Live or other reservation systems as determined by UAMS.
- Assist with on-site registration for education programs.
- Assist with the evaluation of education programs and data entry for reporting.
- Assist with set-up and breakdown for education programs.
Volunteer Coordination:
- Assist with identifying, organizing, and maintaining a list of volunteers for Schmieding Center programs.
May perform other duties as assigned.
