Description
Loyola University Medical Center, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital have an excellent full time faculty opportunity for a Board Certified Neuro-Ophthalmologist on the Clinical Educator Track (CET) located in Maywood, Illinois.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interest and prior commitment to clinical and/or basic science research. Candidates should have a history of outstanding clinical care and a strong academic commitment to the clinical training of residents and medical students. Board Certification and Fellowship training as well as eligibility for licensing in Illinois is expected.
Currently, the Department of Ophthalmology has 23 full time and 20 part time clinicians who manage over 65,000 patient visits per year on the Loyola (Maywood and four other satellite offices) and neighboring HVA sites. They have five dedicated research scientists (two PhD, two MD, and one OD/PharmD). The residency training program with four residents per year is managed by a dedicated team including the Program Director, the Vice Chair of Education and the Chief Resident. The Department of Ophthalmology will be one of five departments (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology and Psychiatry) to participate in a planned Neuroscience Institute. The main Loyola research facility is a 225,000 square foot Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE) which opened in 2015 and houses the clinical Research Office (CRO) and research administration.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Neuro-Ophthalmologist to join the team at Loyola University Health System.
