Lactation Consultant Position Summary
Functions as an adult educator in a variety of settings and with a variety of audiences, including staff of Women's & Children's Services, acting as teacher, facilitator and coach and demonstrating expertise in theories, methods and strategies relative to adult learning. The Lactation Consultant focuses on helping breastfeeding women and families define and achieve their breastfeeding goals through education and counseling in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
Lactation Consultant Position Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school with a Baccalaureate degree in a health care field, or in pursuit of degree in a health care field.
- Current certification in Lactation.
- A minimum of three years experience in maternal child with preferably one year's experience in teaching or nursing management.
Lactation Consultant Work Schedule
- Usually works Monday through Friday, days and evenings.
- Works off-shifts and weekends as needed.
- Flexibility in hours of work to meet community needs.
- Must be willing to come to work during an emergency.
Lactation Consultant Benefits
At TidalHealth, full-time employees working at least 72 hours per pay period, part-time employees working at least 36 hours per pay period and part-time employees working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.
