Clinical Manager Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of a nursing unit for newborns and pediatric patients with illnesses such as sepsis, phototherapy, RDS, Prematurity, Hypoglycemia, Hypothermia, congenital defects, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiolitis, asthma, gastritis, failure to thrive, sickle cell, RSV, and pneumonia. The Clinical Nurse Manager is also responsible for the supervision of personnel assigned to Peds, SCN, NANN, and Lactation. The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, including patient satisfaction. The number of newborn and pediatric patients responsible ranges according to the delivery volume. The Clinical Nurse Manager is also responsible for management of human, fiscal, and other resources, development of personnel, and compliance with regulatory and professional perinatal and pediatric standards. The clinical manager will work closely with the LD and Mother-Baby Manager.
Clinical Manager Position Requirements
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Certification required (specialty certification within one year or managerial certification in accordance with AONE/AACN)
- Bachelor's Degree is required or in pursuit. Masters level preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, with 1-2 years of leadership experience preferred.
Clinical Manager Work Schedule
- Exempt position.
- Variable shifts depending on the needs of the department.
- Works at least two after hours shifts – minimum 4 hours each per month.
- Works in a clinical capacity at least 8 hours per month.
