Description
*Per Diem opportunity- Days, Evenings & Weekend hours.
Main Function:
- Using clinical judgment and available resources, dispenses medications for patients seen in an outpatient pharmacy.
- Oversees and directly contributes to compounding, preparation and dispensing of medications for patients in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations for Pharmacy practice.
- Answers medication related questions from patients and providers, and provides patient counseling on proper medication use. Supervises pharmacy technicians.
Required Job Specific Competencies:
- Outpatient pharmacists are required to review, process, dispense and counsel patients on prescriptions filled according to Federal. Patient confidentiality will be maintained throughout the process.
- Pharmacists will possess an in-depth knowledge of medications and their uses.
The pharmacist will provide professional services and support in the following distributive and clinical areas:
- Medication distribution and compounding
- Drug Information
- Education and Resource Materials
- Drug Usage
- Adverse Drug Reactions
- Medication Error Prevention
- Nursing/Pharmacy Liaison
- Clinical Computer Applications
- Medication Use Evaluation
- Program Development and Implementation
Requirements
- Current New York State Pharmacist registration.
- Accredited continuing education as required/defined by New York State
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D from accredited Pharmacy program
- No prior experience required
- Preferred: 12 months in ambulatory care pharmacy
Pay Range: $53.30-60.00
Starting Pay: Based on Experience
