MAIN FUNCTION
- Provides clinical surgery practice and associated administrative services to Thompson Health patients under the supervision of the surgeons.
- Provides consistent, high quality, evidence-based care.
- Leads office staff in development and performance of efficient office practices.
- Provides patient management and practice leadership that unifies surgery practice goals with health system goals.
- Always puts the needs of the patient first.
- Assists the health system in meeting strategic goals. Responsible for caring for patients in the outpatient setting. He/She will be a member of the Department of Medicine Adjunct Staff. Duties will include a variety of outpatient clinic responsibilities as specified below.
- Attends (admits, performs history and physical, writes orders) newly admitted patients to the surgery unit.
- Communicates with attending surgeon.
- Evaluates routine patient condition or requests for change in routine orders or clarification of orders.
- Informs attending surgeon of patient conditions requiring more in depth review and assessments.
- Maintains appropriate medical records.
- Prepares surgery patients for discharge and completes discharge summary.
- Assists and participates in the ongoing activities of the medical staff quality improvement program.
- Provides quality improvement data or other required documentation to designated personnel in a timely manner.
- Establishes and maintains good communication and working relationships with members of the office staff, nursing staff and other hospital departments.
- Participates in required hospital meetings as necessary and appropriate, as required by medical staff by-laws.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients. The individual must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and to the care needed.
SCHEDULE: Part time, 20 hours per week -- two 10 hour shifts
QUALIFICATIONS- Registration to practice in New York State required. Nurse Practitioners must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Nurse Practitioners.
- NYS Licensure and current Registration required.
- DEA Licensure Required
- Current ACLS
- RNFA certification required
- Graduation from an AMA/AHO approved school as a Nurse Practitioner.
- One to two years of experience in hospital based medicine and/or surgery or other suitable experience, preferred.
- $55.00-65.00/hour based on experience.
