We are currently seeking a highly skilled and passionate Wetland Scientist to join our team. As a Wetland Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting field delineations, permit preparation and ecological assessments in wetland ecosystems to support permitting efforts and renewable projects.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals and contribute to the protection and restoration of wetland habitats. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing environmental data, conducting field surveys, and providing technical expertise on wetland ecology.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology, with a focus on wetland ecosystems. They should have hands-on experience in leading and conducting wetland delineations and a proficiency in data collection and analysis. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as you will have to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct field delineations for preparation of permitting applications to land use programs.
· Identify and classify wetland vegetation, hydric soils, hydrology and wildlife.
· Monitor water quality and assess the health of wetland habitats.
· Collect and analyze environmental data and prepare detailed reports.
· Provide technical expertise and recommendations on wetland conservation and restoration planning and reporting.
· Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and landowners, to develop and implement wetland management plans.
· Stay up to date with current research and best practices in wetland science.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
· 3-5 years of experience in wetland delineation and permitting
· Proven experience in conducting wetland delineations.
· Proficiency in biodiversity assessment techniques and wetland classification systems
· Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret environmental data.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Knowledge of wetland regulations and permitting processes
· Must be able to perform and lead wetland delineations in the NJ/NY/PA region.
· Federal (USACE) and State permitting experience required.
· NJDEP permitting experience required inclusive of Freshwater Wetland, Flood Hazard, and Coastal (i.e., CAFRA and Waterfront Development).
· Must have the ability to collect data using GPS (i.e., sub-meter Arrow/Trimble units).
· Ability to travel on an as needed basis.
· Experienced in biological habitat surveys for listed and non-listed plant and animal species.
· Experience with invasive species surveys.
· A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
· Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
