If this sounds appealing to you, then consider our Water/Wastewater Design Manager opportunity. This position can be based in Kansas City, Oklahoma City, or Tulsa. This is a Hybrid position.   

 

The successful candidate will lead the technical delivery of projects.  The candidate will direct junior engineering staff in our civil and water/wastewater design groups. These groups provide design engineering and construction management services for surrounding municipalities in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and other locations across the US. Typical projects include a wide variety of municipal projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance and pumping, stormwater, and asset management. 

 

 

Your Role: 

  • Lead design initiatives and coordinate project teams to ensure the successful delivery of design projects.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design and hydraulic calculations and analyses  
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documents 
  • Ensure standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects 
  • Perform engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommending and documenting design modifications, and coordinating with the design team 
  • Review submittals from contractors for conformance with engineering specifications and drawings and respond to requests for additional information 
  • Assist the project manager with budgeting, scheduling, and presenting technical output in support of a project
  • Support business development activities such as presenting at local/national conferences, building client relationships, and proposal writing. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required, or ability to obtain within one year 
  • 7+ years of experience in planning and designing water/wastewater treatment, distribution/conveyance, pumping, and storage facilities 
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, to include Excel, word processing, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Revit preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Position requires periodic travel, approximately up to 25%
