Your Role:

Tetra Tech is seeking a part-time Senior Environmental Engineer for our Helena, MT operations to provide field and office engineering services for various projects in Montana and other locations.  Job responsibilities include leading and managing engineering design and remediation/reclamation projects for contaminated hazardous waste and abandoned mine sites and Brownfields sites.  Sites may be contaminated with petroleum and organic chemicals, metals, asbestos, or other solid wastes.  This position will also provide support for construction oversight, site characterization and response, and business development opportunities. 

 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have at least 15 years of experience working in engineering consulting or related field. Qualified candidates must also have/be:

  • Must have good communication skills and a desire to interact with clients, project team members, and contractors, both in the field and in the office.
  • Must be able to complete projects on time. 
  • Experience with the following is desired, but not required:
    • Mine reclamation
    • Large earth work projects
    • Multi-disciplinary teams
    • On-site construction oversight
    • Environmental sampling
    • Reporting
    • Computer aided drafting (especially AutoDesk Land Desktop and Civil Design)
    • Computer modeling
    • Cost estimating

In addition:

  • This position requires you to drive on a regular basis.  Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Education / Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, geological, geotechnical, or environmental engineering required.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and asbestos certifications are preferred.  

Physical Demands:

Lifting instruments and equipment up to 50 pounds, climbing up steep slopes and other difficult terrain, and work outside in extreme cold and heat may be required.  

Work Environment:

  • Air travel to field project sites outside Montana will be occasionally required.
  • Field work may be conducted on difficult terrain and sometimes under harsh weather conditions.
  • Field travel up to 10% may be required.

The rate of pay for this position is $40/hour to $50/hour, depending on education, experience, and skills.
