We are currently seeking a Senior Contaminated Sites Specialist to join our Environment and Water Practice in our Edmonton office location on a full-time, permanent basis. The position will have two primary components: technical guidance for junior contaminated sites staff as well as project management and execution. You will lead or coordinate the project management of AB projects and provide technical support, training and mentoring to our team of engineers and scientists throughout AB.
Responsibilities:
- Staying current on general trends in the technical field and market sector.
- Designing, managing and/or conducting environmental site assessment and remediation programs.
- Designing and implementing remediation and risk management strategies for a variety of sites across Alberta.
- Managing projects according to the approved scope of work and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget.
- Delivering top quality and winning technical proposals for environmental engineering projects.
- Leading the development of accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules, and deliverables for high quality project execution.
- Contributing to ongoing project management best practice implementation.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to support the delivery of top-quality technical work on projects.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in an environmental discipline or environmentally related engineering discipline.
- Professional registration as P.Eng., P.Geo., or P.Ag. in Alberta.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience (preference will be given to individuals with consulting experience).
- The successful candidate must have experience with Contaminated Sites assessment and remediation in Alberta.
- Current knowledge of AB environmental regulations - including the Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, and Environmental for Alberta Surface Waters.
- Experience with a variety of sites including residential to industrial, and upstream/downstream petroleum.
- Experience mentoring and directing staff to execute the work to high technical quality standards.
- Leadership skills and experience and the desire to train, mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff within the team.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build long-term, successful professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, leadership and mentorship skills.
- Several years of experience establishing and maintaining client relationships is required.
- Contributing to identifying and securing new business opportunities and marketing activities.
- Developing and maintaining a presence as a practice leader in the industry through participation in professional and sector organizations.
- Some travel will be required in this position.
Beneficial Qualifications:
- Professional registration in other Canadian provinces and territories.
- Experience with Alberta Subsoil Salinity Tool Version 3.0.
- Knowledge/experience with Alberta Exposure Control Guide and Alberta Risk Management Plan Guide.
- Sound knowledge of Federal contaminated sites guidelines.
