Tetra Tech is adding a Resilience and Climate Adaptation Manager to our Emergency Management Risk and Resilience team based Remote in California

Your Role:

This position will have the opportunity to be a part of Tetra Tech's growing national resilience practice with a passion for making a positive and lasting impact in the places they work. The position requires strong technical and communication skills, knowledge of climate change and impacts, and demonstrated experience in resilience and adaptation planning.

·       Provide project management support and lead resilience and climate-adaptation planning projects funded by FEMA, CDBG-MIT, or state programs.

·       Lead capacity building activities including developing decision support tools, mitigation and adaptation strategy development, and stakeholder engagement.

·       Prepare and/or review plans, reports, presentations, and tools to meet project needs.

·       Synthesize and analyze vulnerability data to support the identification of adaptation solutions and align with competitive funding sources.

·       Apply principles of social equity and environmental justice to technical and strategic work.

·       Support identification of new clients through relationship building and robust professional network.

·       Assist with developing technical and business proposals for new projects.

·       Work collaboratively with clients, and a team of professionals and supervise junior planners.

·       Liaise with professionals on technical aspects of project and program development.

·       Conduct outreach, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation of meetings with clients and residents.

·       Assist in the writing, preparation, and technical review of planning documents, reports, presentations, visualizations.

·       Advise, research, and analyze socio-economic, land use, demographic, environmental, climate data.

·       Grow the climate adaptation and resilience practice through the identification of public and private client relationships, business development, networking, and preparing winning proposals.

·       Assist with identifying new markets and opportunities.

·       Knowledgeable about federal, state, private funding sources to support advancement of adaptation projectsManage project scope, budget, schedule, contract, and multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure client and project team satisfaction.

·       Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.

·       Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

·       Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

·       Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

·       Master's Degree preferred in Urban Planning; Sustainability; Climate Change; Resilience; Public Policy, or related field or equivalent experience.

·       Certified by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or working toward certification a is plus.

·       At least 5 years of demonstrated knowledge of mitigation and resilience planning; land use/general planning; mitigation and adaptation strategy identification; risk assessment; climate hazards; federal/state funding mechanisms; federal and state climate, resilience, emergency management policies and programs, best practices, and standards.

·       Have excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction and organizational skills.

·       Writing sample required to be appended to application.

·       U.S. HUD CDBG-MIT planning experience.

·       Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 30%.

·       Must have a valid driver license.

·       Passionate about community resilience and climate adaptation. 

·       Proven track record for project management of planning projects.

·       Robust network in the climate and resilience space to support business development.

·       Proven and demonstrated high quality technical writing skills.  

·       Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and collaboration skills.  Ability to multi-task and problem solve.

·       Strong team player displaying enthusiasm and a true commitment to personal and team growth and development.

·       Interest and ability to work in a collaborative manner functioning as an active participant.

·       Works as a problem solver and critical thinker.

·       Flexibility and the ability to adapt to ever-changing situations.

·       Ability to analyze scientific, environmental, economic and hazard data.

·       Leverages decision-support tools to evaluate impacts (direct and cascading).

·       Excellent constructive communicator, both written and verbal.

·       Ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects, manage time and client requests and resolve issues in a timely and high-quality manner.

·       Proficient using MS Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

·       Proficiency in GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, In Design a plus.

·       Well-developed time management skills and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.

·       Highly self-motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment.

·       Strong work ethic.
