The opportunity

  • Full-time, contract until June 2026

BEQUAL

BEQUAL supports education priorities of the Government of Laos (GoL) described in the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) Education Sector Development Plan and is aligned with the strategic directions set out in Australia's Education Delivery Strategy. BEQUAL supports MoES with the primary curriculum reform, with a particular focus on primary curriculum development, teacher professional development and integration of inclusive education principles. BEQUAL Phase 2 will continue the substantial progress and build on the achievements of the first phase, building on seven years of investment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and monitoring of BEQUAL supported initiatives at sub-national level.
  • Ensure all regional MEL activities mainstream gender equality and inclusive education principles and are implemented in full alignment with BEQUAL's child protection and PSEAH policies.
  • Coordinate with the Education Technical Adviser and Regional Implementation Coordinator to organise and budget for workshops, field visits and other activities.
  • Implement BEQUAL's monitoring, data collection, data management, analysis and reporting systems, especially KoBo-based systems, in target districts and schools.
  • Undertake field visits as needed to conduct and/or supervise data collection and verify data quality.

Selection criteria

  • A relevant undergraduate degree, requiring qualitative and quantitative inquiry, or equivalent experience.
  • Field-based experience in the education sector or another public sector in Lao PDR, in particular with provincial and district authorities as well as communities.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation fieldwork and collecting, managing and reporting MEL data and information.
  • Experience in working with Lao government systems and processes
  • Knowledge of inclusive education, gender, disability, and child protection principles and how they can be integrated and assessed in qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Experience using MS Office user (Word, Excel, Power Point) and KoBo toolbox
  • Good language skills (oral and written) in both Lao and English.
