The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a  Mid/Senior GIS Professional  to support renewable energy development and transmission routing/siting projects across the Western U.S., with a focus on California and the CAISO market. This position will be instrumental in advancing offshore/onshore wind, solar, battery storage, and other energy projects by overseeing and executing all aspects of GIS and geospatial support for site selection, impact analysis, and permitting.

 

The successful candidate will serve as the GIS point of contact for multiple projects, managing data collection, spatial analysis, and high-quality deliverables using advanced ESRI products and tools. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact energy infrastructure projects that support sustainability and grid modernization.

Your Role:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to define project GIS needs and deliverables.
  • Identify, collect, and process spatial data; conduct detailed spatial analyses; and generate high-quality mapping products.
  • Create and evaluate routing models for energy infrastructure, including opportunities and constraints analyses.
  • Support environmental permitting by conducting impact assessments and preparing spatial data summaries.
  • Coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams including environmental, engineering, and project management groups.
  • Develop web-based maps, interactive data viewers, and map graphics for reports and public outreach.
  • Represent clients in meetings with regulatory agencies, land managers, and planning boards.
  • Ensure GIS data accuracy and consistency across all project phases.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional GIS experience, ideally in renewable energy or transmission siting.
  • Expertise in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and spatial analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with environmental datasets from federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of applied GIS experience in renewable energy or utility sectors.
  • Experience with ESRI Field Maps and Survey123 for data collection.
  • Experience creating public-facing, interactive web GIS tools.
  • Programming skills in Python, Arcade, or similar.
  • Experience working with databases and spatial data in an enterprise environment.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position
