Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a collaborative, diverse team of environmental scientists, geologists, emergency response teams, and engineers to provide data-driven Geospatial Solutions? For over 25 years, the Tetra Tech team has supported clients in the Southeast and across the country with a full suite of geospatial mapping, cartography, geoprocessing/spatial analysis, database management, mobile applications, and web-based deployments utilizing ESRI's suite of GIS tools.

Our Atlanta area office provides technical expertise across this full range of capabilities for environmental consulting, engineering, regulatory compliance, sustainability, resiliency, and investigation/remediation of critically impacted properties throughout the southeastern United States. We are currently seeking a full-time Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist for our Atlanta, GA operations.

Your Role:

We are looking for candidates with experience conducting and coordinating environmental emergency responses, as well as experience in environmental investigation, response, and removal projects in coordination with local, state, and/or Federal regulatory agencies.  Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a strong and dependable GIS support role for natural resource data analysis.
  • Create and maintain ESRI GIS Applications, Projects, and geodatabases.
  • Create, analyze, and report GPS data from Field Maps, Survey123, and Collector.
  • Perform Geospatial Analyses and Modeling within ESRI applications.
  • Provide High-Quality Project Mapping and Data support.
  • Create data documentation or metadata for GIS Projects.
  • Manage, develop, and implement ESRI applications in mobile environments, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other web solutions for clients.
  • Work with an integrated team of emergency response personnel, environmental scientists, geologists, and engineers, to complete mapping tasks that require a working knowledge of geographic principles, geoprocessing and spatial analysis, geodatabase management, and various ESRI applications.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience performing GIS tasks. The ideal candidate must have/be:

  • Proficient in the latest versions of ESRI's ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Proficient in map projections and spatial data transformations.
  • Experience working in Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite including Access.
  • Understanding of geodatabase structure and capabilities.
  • Understanding of SQL database queries.
  • Ability to publish and manage map, feature, and geoprocessing services using ArcPro, ArcCatalog, and ArcGIS Server Manager a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, team members, and project management teams.

Other desired skills include:

  • Mobile Data Collection Development in the ArcGIS Online Suite of Applications including ESRI Field Maps and Survey123 a plus.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, building dashboards and web-based mapping.
  • Familiarity with GPS Software – Trimble, Arrow, etc.

Education and Certifications:

  • B.S. in Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Mapping, environmental science, physical sciences (e.g. physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology), engineering, or related field. 
  • GIS Certificate and geographic information systems professional (GISP) certification preferred.


Work Environment: 

  • This position may require up to 15% travel to support environmental field activities throughout the south-central United States.
