Your Role:

  • Working on commercial, municipal and industrial projects in both a field and laboratory environment.
  • Performing field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt and concrete. This includes sieve analysis, density testing using density gauges, preparation of Proctors and Marshall briquettes, asphalt cement content, Atterberg limits and moisture content, including evaluation and reporting of construction materials properties and characteristics.
  • Quality assurance/control of material testing for means of acceptance and rejection.
  • Working to achieve results within conformance of test specifications.
  • Maintaining lab and field equipment in working order.
  • Ensuring all lab testing, reporting, and procedures are in accordance with company program requirements as trained.
  • Has a good understanding of geotechnical design recommendations related to fill placement and pile installation.
  • Support senior engineers and technologist in planning and executing materials testing programs.
  • Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction activities, ensuring specified material usage and placement.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of materials testing, or related construction experience is required.
  • Diploma from a technical institute in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Some related industry experience in quality assurance/control for field and laboratory testing, preferably in the consulting sector would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player attitude are essential.
  • Experience dealing with contractors and municipal design consultants would be beneficial.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying preference will be given to candidates with a clean driving record. Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required including carrying and lifting heavy materials.
