We are seeking part-time scientists, biologists, geologist, engineers, and technicians with 2+ years' experience to provide support on a variety of environmental projects and programs that are managed out of the Denver Operations.
Projects include post disaster remediation, emergency response, Superfund removal actions, remedial action sites, orphaned well plugging and assessment, due diligence (Phase 1 and Phase II assessments), lead based paint and asbestos assessments.
Work will include multimedia sampling (including air), oversight of operations, preparation of reports and tables, review of data, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, file reviews, collection of air monitoring data, training and exercise support, contractor oversight, and related services.
Work for other government and private sector clients in these areas is also possible.
Work will include being mobilized to areas in the U.S. where the project support is needed, with mobilizations lasting 2 weeks to 30 days. The position is 100% in the field. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements.
All work is done in teams of 2, reporting through incident command system.
Tetra Tech will provide travel, per diem, and housing accommodations when on travel, unless staff are local to the site. Full relocation will not be necessary.
Qualifications
B.A/B.S. in science, engineering, geology or biology preferred but not required. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 2 years of experience is required in environmental sampling / consulting or related field. You will also have / be:
• Multimedia sampling and field work experience preferred.
• Experience with remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, water resources desirable.
• GIS data analysis and geostatistics, coding (VBA, Python, etc.), and data management skills a plus.
• Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
Degree / Certifications
• B.A/B.S. in environmental science or related degree preferred but not required. In lieu of a degree, 2 years of experience is required.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus.
Work Environment
This position is 100% in the field. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements.
Work will consist of working 6-7 days a week, including weekends, 10 – 12 hour days and will average 50 – 60 hours per week. You must be able to:
• Lift and carry field sampling and other equipment roughly 35lbs.
• Meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.
• Work outside in all weather conditions and seasons, both hot and cold.
• Walk on uneven terrain.
• Travel and work on weekends and evenings.
• Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
The Salary Range for this position is $28.00/hour to $32.00/hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
