Tetra Tech is looking for a Mid Level Environmental Scientist who will be responsible for completion of task level work, including: field investigations (including soil, water, and air sampling; drilling and subcontractor supervision, and coordination with analytical laboratories), construction and/or remedial action oversight, health and safety air monitoring, and preparation of technical reports. This role may or will serve in the field as the Field Operations Leader (FOL) and in the office will work collaboratively with peers, senior technical staff, project managers and under the supervision of their Operations Manager or other assigned manager. One or more mentors will be assigned in order to provide field and office training to support continued growth and development. In this position, the candidate will be expected to follow company safety standards, participate in safety training, and prepare as well as implement site-specific health and safety plans. The desired candidate will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and implementing site-specific work plans, scopes of work and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as preparing various technical deliverables including reports, letters, proposals, tables, and figures.

Your Role:
• Work as a member of teams conducting hands-on multi-media environmental sampling, including surface and subsurface soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, etc.
• Prepare for and serve as FOL overseeing other field staff and subcontractor(s), coordinating with technical lead(s) and/or project manager back in the office.
• Monitor investigative/remediation work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
• Record and compile data into coherent products for customer use, interpret and explain findings to project teams.
• Interpret data patterns and trends, compare to regulatory standards and assist in the development of recommendations for actions based on regulatory constraints.
• Prepare and assist with preparation of written documents, sampling and analysis plans, data summary reports, and technical evaluations.
• Complete other duties as they may be assigned to support investigation and remediation projects.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) or master's degree (MS) in Geology, Geological Sciences or Engineering, or a bachelor's degree in the natural sciences (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology) is required.
• A GIT or EIT certification is preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years of directly related work experience in the environmental consulting, engineering, or related industry is required.
• A driver's license current and valid for a state in the United States is required.
• Previous field experience required, including sampling activities and environmental drilling operations, ability to work independently on field projects and lead field teams and subcontractor(s).
• Experience preparing technical reports, memos, response to comments tables, and diagrams is required. Must be a competent technical writer.
• Ability to work well with teams, as well as complete assigned independent activities on time and with minimal errors, for both field and office project work.
• Ability to analyze chemistry and environmental data is required.
• Ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, working groups, and internal customers required.
• Working knowledge of the conceptual site model process is preferred. Experience including CERCLA RI/FS and PA/SI is preferred.
• Attention to detail is required. The successful candidate must be able to observe, evaluate, and document site field conditions and communicate changes in field conditions to senior staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide thoughtful input and/or make evaluated decisions for the betterment of the client and the company.
• Skilled as a problem solver, will have an interest and ability to work in a collaborative manner, and will have the flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
• GIS experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook is required.
• Experience or coursework with database software such as Access, SQL Server or others is a plus.
• Existing certifications for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training specified in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120 (e) is preferred.
• This position requires OSHA health and safety, client-specific safety, first aid and CPR training, and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.
