Projects now being completed by Tetra Tech include full services permitting, design, construction, and operation of numerous biogas collection, renewable energy, organics, and waste diversion projects. One of Tetra Tech's focus areas is providing full-service solutions for our clients to convert biogas, generated from organics associated with solid waste, waste water treatment, or agricultural waste, to electrical power or renewable natural gas for vehicles. Tetra Tech also assists clients in identifying new opportunities for diversion of more organics for these environmentally beneficial projects.

 

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a self-motivated, Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Compliance Specialist to help grow our firm's operations. As an Environmental Scientist/Compliance Specialist, you will compare field site data to regulatory standards for compliance, interpret and follow regulations and regulatory permit conditions, write compliance reports, draft regulatory permits, and conduct calculations related to air emissions and other solid waste industry operations. Areas of compliance will include landfill gas monitoring, leachate collection systems, landfill gas-to-energy systems, air quality monitoring and permitting, solid waste facility permitting including landfills and other waste operations, composting operations, other general permitting in assistance to engineering for construction projects, and New Source Performance Standards (NSPS)/National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Pollutants (NESHAP) compliance services and reporting. This position will primarily be remote but may require travel and work onsite in rare occasions. This position is eligible for our full benefits package including but not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Disability, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Spending Account (HSA), My Flex Time (MFT - paid time off), 401K, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. The pay range for this position is $50K-$70K annually, based on qualifications, location, and experience. The deadline to apply is 12/4/2024.

Your Role:

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, environmental data, and aerial photographs
  • Prepare environmental compliance reports and tables
  • Prepare permit applications
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze environmental monitoring data (air, emissions, etc.)
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel to ensure site equipment and monitoring is conducted in accordance with application regulations and permit requirements
  • Manage site field data
  • Assistance with project management as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office – Word and Excel
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability for some required travel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience in environmental science, compliance, or engineering
  • Solid Waste industry experience or comparable is a plus
