We are seeking immediate opportunities for Environmental Planner/Deputy Project Manager in the Southwest Region to support our growing energy practice, with specific emphasis on growing our siting, permitting, and engineering business. With decades of national experience, Tetra Tech offers a wealth of technical knowledge and a strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.

 

Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts of energy projects. Experience will include permitting for solar, wind, energy storage, and transmission line projects.

This opportunity can be Remote or Hybrid, with preference for candidate to be located in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, or Utah. 

 

Responsibilities:

·         We are seeking a team member with an established and successful history of managing and leading tasks associated with energy projects which includes assisting with developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, delivering client satisfaction, and mentoring staff.

·         This role will assist in energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental field surveys, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking.

·         Candidates will work within a team to prepare conditional use, land use, right-of-way, and other local jurisdictional permitting efforts.

·         In addition to permitting, this role will include assisting in management of the preparation of resource studies (e.g., wildlife biology, wetlands, cultural resources) associated with energy project permitting, as well as the production of permit applications to state utility boards.

·         This role will assist in representing clients before federal, state, and local regulatory and land management agencies, boards, planning commissions, and councils and make presentations in public meetings to obtain approval for projects.

·         Our team member will have experience working with environmental, regulatory, and land use agencies, such as: U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and will have experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) planning.

·         Candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team.

·         Candidates must be able to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies.

·         Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively (orally and in writing), and demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Qualifications:

·         B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related degree or equivalent experience.

·         5 to 10+ years related consulting experience including managing technical teams and project management.

·         Experience with the resources and regulatory agencies in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and/or Utah.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Excellent writing skills.

·         Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
