Summary:

Tetra Tech's Phoenix, AZ office consists of a collaborative, talented, and enthusiastic team. We are seeking a motivated entry level Scientist to join our high-performing team to continue providing top-of-the-line client services. Hybrid working opportunities may be available, but candidate must reside within 50 miles of a local Tetra Tech Phoenix, AZ or Tucson, AZ office.

Our Phoenix office provides a wide variety of environmental services that include subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater remediation design and implementation, remediation system operation and maintenance, hydrogeological studies, wetland and ecological surveys, environmental compliance support, regulated material surveys, waste management, construction and demolition oversight, due diligence support, and long-term monitoring programs.

Your Role:

  • Much of the work will be in the field and may require overnight and occasional weekend travel/work. Field work / travel will be at a minimum of 70-85% of the time.
  • Performance of field tasks includes but isn't limited to; field investigations, treatment system operation, optimization, and maintenance, soil and groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion sampling (soil gas, subslab, and indoor air), environmental assessments and site inspections, and remediation implementation (both self-performance and oversight of subcontractors). Sampling programs will be under the direction of a Registered/Professional Geologist or Engineer.
  • Office tasks may include but aren't limited to; sampling plan development, data evaluation, and preparing technical reports. Tasks associated with reporting may include preparation of text, tables, charts, maps, and figures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS in a Scientific discipline (Environmental Science, Geology, etc.). Advanced degrees or professional certifications desirable but not required.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in environmental services / consulting.
  • GIT preferred.
  • A good understanding of environmental services including investigation and remedial actions, groundwater treatment systems, environmental assessments and sampling is preferred.
  • Prior sampling experience with HydraSleeves.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and principles.
  • Ability to take thorough clear notes and preparation of data reports. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in correlation with individual experience.
  • Ability to work in a team or individually without supervision.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with database development and management, and CAD or GIS is desirable.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training, preferred.
  • Standard First Aid Training preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work (70%-85% travel required) with overnight stays primarily in the state of Arizona.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
