Convergence Controls and Engineering, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a full-time Controls Engineer.

 

The Controls Engineer works on a variety of projects delivering automation systems for diverse industries. This position provides the opportunity to interact with clients to understand the automation requirements and transform them into effective control solutions. This is done using strong project execution methodologies, established procedures and using good judgment in making adaptations and modifications. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical ability, communication skills, the ability to mentor others and establish relationships with clients and vendors.

 

Your Role:

  •  Ability to design and deliver innovative automation solutions and establish design standards independently or as a team leader.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery to meet client requirements.
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA)
  • Develop databases for historical data archiving and display
  • Commission control systems at client facilities
  • Develop project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and budgets
  • Prioritize and schedule tasks, track time, and report financial status
  • Identify problems early and manage/resolve conflicts
  • Lead and support team efforts and attend project status meetings
  • Oversee daily project operations and ensure project profitability.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. 
  • 5+ years with capabilities in below areas is preferred:

o   Experience in industries such as Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, Mining Life Sciences, Building Automation, Manufacturing and Food & Beverage.

o   Experience in the design of electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels and associated NEC references desired.

o   Experience with AutoCAD is also desired

o   Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions

o   Experience mentoring less experienced engineers

  • Ability to deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directed or as a leader of a team.
  • Ability to conceptualize, detail and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our customer's requirements.
  • Knowledge of controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text and others to achieve the desired results is required.
  • Knowledge of standard programming languages such as VBA, .NET and SQL for the development of HMI/SCADA systems is preferred.
