Tetra Tech invites you to consider the opportunity to join our strong and dynamic Civil, Coastal and Environmental Engineering Group in San Juan, Puerto Rico as a Civil/Environmental Engineer. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of and interest in environmental and coastal processes, engineering analyses, and coastal resiliency. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skillsets to support domestic and international coastal and environmental projects, including habitat restoration, sustainability, beach nourishment, coastal storm impact analyses, coastal structures, living shorelines, marinas, ports and harbors. The candidate should have strong water resources engineering technical skills in environmental, hydraulic and hydrological processes and understand the regulatory legal framework for stormwater pollution prevention programs, air quality compliance, solid waste compliance, and NEPA compliance for large utilities water and energy companies.

Your Role:
This is an engaging and high impact position in which the successful candidate will work closely with national industry leaders to support clients with the planning and design and project development of coastal and environmental solutions, and coastal and flood risk hazards mitigation plans. Responsibilities include:
- Solve engineering problems and challenges in a multi-disciplinary work environment
- Project management and support of coastal habitat restoration and risk reduction projects
- Conduct engineering analyses and apply coastal and flood risk management tools for the design and formulation of resilient coastal protection and conservation projects.
- Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates under the supervision of civil engineers and environmental scientists.
- Prepare standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications, and other technical documents per federal and state funded program's requirements
- Work collaboratively with project managers, subcontractors, technician support team and peers
- Partner with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects
- Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys and construction observations
- Coordinate work with engineers, subcontractors, as well as other scientific and non-technical groups
Qualifications
- 4 - 8 years of experience in environmental/coastal/ water resources/solid waste engineering
- Master's Degree with an emphasis in environmental engineering or science preferred
- Professional Engineer License preferred
- Federal grants proposal development and management
- Data analysis, technical report preparation, limiting factors allocation, and preparation of assessments reports
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with public and private client management and previous project management experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel or accept short-term assignments in other locations throughout the US and the Caribbean
- Valid driver's license required
