Description

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Board-Certified (BC) Physician or Clinician for the role of Chief Service Line Executive (CSLE) in Sacramento, California.

The CSLE is the key driver in enhancing patient access and optimizing healthcare delivery in the organization. The primary focus will be on improving service line growth and development, patient experience, best clinical practices, and care coordination. By collaborating with various departments (Growth/Strategy/Operations/System Service Lines) this role will elevate the quality of care and services to patients. Responsible for significant coaching, nurturing, and developing leaders within their structure.

This is a 0.8 FTE leadership position, with a portion of time devoted to clinical activity required (0.1-0.2 clinical).

Position Requirements:

  1. Must be a Physician, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Practitioner and successfully become licensed to practice in California
  2. Five years' senior leadership experience in healthcare, with an emphasis on medical group leadership required
  3. Graduate degree, such MHA or MBA, preferred (or equivalent experience)

The salary for this role is $445,000 per 1.0 FTE.

Duties
  1. Strategic Leadership:

    1. Assess the current state of service line operations and identify areas for improvement and new programs
    2. Set clear goals and performance metrics to enhance patient access and satisfaction
    3. Create and/or standardize care pathways
    4. Partner with system/Sutter Health service line executives to develop strategy for future growth and clinical services
    5. Connect service line leaders together to build a team, align strategy and goals, share best practices, experiences, and learning to improve access, quality, and patient experience
    6. Actively participates in SMG's annual Talent Review and Succession process and commits to the identification, coaching, education, support, and development of Service Line Medical Directors/Chairs whose behavior and actions are aligned with our SMG compact and committed to serving and contributing to the success of SMG with ultimate goal of caring for our patients first and our people always.
  2. Patient Experience Enhancement:

    1. Improve the overall patient journey by ensuring seamless transitions between departments
    2. Facilitate smooth navigation of patients through the healthcare system
    3. Increase patient loyalty by clinical departments delivering exceptional service
    4. Improve access metrics in collaboration with other stakeholders
    5. Support the efforts for a simplified and coordinated referral process
  3. Quality:

    1. Engage Service Line Leaders to identify and implement meaningful quality measures, methods for tracking and processes to support clinicians in reaching targets.
    2. Support a culture of psychological safety where individuals feel safe to elevate questions, concerns or issues and feel heard and respected and are invited to participate in improvement activities
    3. Enhance care coordination among departments

  4. Collaboration and Communication:

    1. Bridge gaps between different departments to create a cohesive patient experience
    2. Foster a culture of collaboration and shared processes
    3. Work closely with clinical, administrative, and operational teams
    4. Ensure communication inside and outside of SMG is tailored to the stakeholder group to support increased understanding and partnership
